Rik and Cathy Berry are regional leaders for the Atlantic Provinces. They pastor Valley Gate Vineyard, in Kentville, Nova Scotia. Rik and Cathy have six adult children and fourteen grandchildren so far. They pastored with the Canadian Baptists for eighteen years, including some mission work in South America, before pastoring in the Vineyard. Twenty-one years ago, they planted Valley Gate Vineyard out of their home, and in 2002 the church purchased and renovated the old Paramount Theatre in Kentville, NS. Recognizing that the community around them had a high percentage of homelessness and a lack of housing, in 2010 they started The Refuge, a 10 bed transitional housing program for young men at risk of homelessness, in the upstairs of the theatre. With their church, they also initiated a youth centre, which now runs as an independent organization servicing at-risk youth throughout the Annapolis Valley.
