Nathan & Charis Rousu serve as the senior pastors of Harvest Vineyard in Edmonton, AB. They have 3 adult children, Katie, Kody, and Taylor. Nathan is the son of Don & Ruth Rousu, who began pastoring in the Vineyard in 1990 after transitioning from leadership in the Lutheran church. Nathan & Charis officially took over the Senior Pastor role at Harvest at the beginning of 2013 after a two year transition. Nathan has been on full-time pastoral staff at Harvest for 23 years, having started as Worship Pastor before moving to Associate and Senior roles – a funny progression for someone who from a young age 'never wanted to be a pastor.' Charis joined full-time pastoral staff in 2015 after exiting a successful career in the upper echelons of wealth management with RBC Dominion Securities. She went from working with the super-rich to the highly vulnerable in NE Edmonton. Their diverse ministry at Harvest is marked by some strengths in worship, prayer, and neighborhood outreach, especially to teens.
To use common descriptors, as a Myers-Briggs INTJ and Enneagram 5, Nathan loves to learn and share the wonder of diverse discoveries with others. Nathan is an avid competitive target archer and bow-hunter, spending days off pursuing adventure in the most inhospitable portions of 'middle-of-nowhere' Alberta. Again using common descriptors, being a Myers-Briggs INFJ and Enneagram 9, Charis is a warm connector. While educated and knowledgeable, she was best known in her business career by clients for warm and genuine care. Now on Harvest staff and involved in many neighbourhood outreach efforts, she is well known by the teens in the neighborhood! She also can be frequently seen on Sundays grooving on the bass and singing while leading worship with her husband.
